JOB DESCRIPTION
A professional family based in Dundrum, Dublin 16 is seeking an experienced, proactive, and highly organised Housekeeper to manage their home and provide afternoon care for their two children, aged 7 and 9 years. The days are Monday to Friday, 11:00am to 6:00pm (35 hours per week). Start date is September 2026
This is primarily a housekeeping role, with responsibility for maintaining a clean, organised, and well-run household, alongside after-school support for the children.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have previous housekeeping experience in a private household, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. They will be organised, trustworthy, reliable, and enjoy working around children.
Key Responsibilities
Housekeeping Duties
- Daily cleaning and upkeep of the family home
- Dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and polishing
- Laundry and ironing
- Changing bed linen and maintaining bedrooms and bathrooms
- Keeping all household areas organised and tidy
- Managing household supplies and shopping for household essentials
- Running occasional errands
Childcare Duties
- Collecting the children from school (if required)
- Supervising and caring for two children aged 7 and 9 years
- Preparing healthy snacks after school
- Assisting with homework and school projects
- Organising age-appropriate activities and play
- Ensuring the children’s routines are followed
- Preparing simple evening meals for the Family when required
- Supporting the family during school holidays as agreed
Requirements
- Previous housekeeping experience in a private household
- Experience caring for school-aged children
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Proactive and able to work independently
- Fluent English
- Driver preferred with a full clean driving licence
- Excellent references from previous employers
The role will focus on housekeeping duties during the day, transitioning to after-school childcare and family support in the afternoon.
