Part Time Afternoon Nanny, Dun Laoghaire, Co.Dublin

Family are seeking a long-term Nanny to mind our two children aged 6 & 9 in their house in Dun Laoghaire after school from Monday – Thursday from 2pm or 3pm until 7/8pm, Friday 2pm to 5pm A confident driver is essential as daily pick-ups and drop offs are required from schools and to activities family will provide a car during working hours.

The family are focused on being active and healthy, the children do lots of sports, are very active and enjoy being outdoors. They are a screen free house and expect anyone who is with our children to be engaging with them, and not on their device. We understand a personal call may need to be taken now and then, but these should be kept to a minimum and be by exception.

Developing health eating habits is also important and preparing healthy snacks and dinners will be required.

The primary responsibilities of the role is the safe care of their children and to be an important contributor to their social & educational development. This should be prioritized over all other duties every day. It is of the utmost importance to the parents that the children feel that their nanny is providing them with a secure and loving environment. Their safety and well-being always take precedence.

Parents believe in creating a positive, calm and secure environment. It is important that we communicate often about the type of care and parenting approach each child receives as they grow and develop. As you are aware not every child benefits from the same approach and we are keen to work with you and to lean on your experience to discern what works best for ours.

We expect the nanny to engage each child in play, outdoor activities, to engage them in educational, music/art and exercise activities in our home and around the neighbourhood, including classes, play dates, etc.

The Nanny will oversee and help them with homework and extra-curricular practices and work every day. We will share with you a regular schedule of their activities and are happy for you to take the lead in structuring their week. We expect that you remain present at their activities, in case of any unforeseen events, unless it’s a specified drop off class (i.e. Ballet).

The children enjoy outdoors and depending on the weather would expect that the children will take every opportunity to be outdoors when it’s an option.

The Nanny will be responsible for maintaining their hygiene when under your care. You will also be responsible for their nutrition, ensuring they are eating healthy snacks, preparing healthy dinners and ensuring they are staying hydrated throughout their time under your care.

We also expect you will make good judgement to ensure they are dressed appropriately for the weather conditions (hats, gloves, sun hats, sunscreen etc).

As the children grow and develop, we expect to work with you to develop plans for healthy and nutritious meals & snacks, weekly schedule, discipline or punishment.

In general, we expect to work together to establish and maintain a healthy routine for our children and that any questions that come up as they develop encourage more discussion, dialogue and agreement among us.

Additional Responsibilities

• Ad-hoc grocery shopping for children’s food and employee’s own food, using credit
• card / cash provided by Susan & Markham and providing receipts for all purchases
• Keeping their rooms and all common areas in the house tidy and clean
• Load and unload dishwasher as required to ensure the kitchen remains safe, clean
• and usable throughout the day
• Do children’s laundry and prep sports gear for activities and lessons
• Laundry for the children and organisation of sports gear etc

The Candidate must have qualifications, a minimum of 2 years’ experience, excellent references, up to date First Aid & Garda Vetting.
